Maggie Grace (born Margaret Grace Denig September 21 1983) is an American actress best known for her roles as Shannon Rutherford on the ABC television series Lost and Kim Mills in the Taken trilogy. Born in Worthington Ohio, she quit high school and moved to Los Angeles with her mother when her parents separated. Though she struggled financially, her 2001 debut was acting as Rachel's Room's primary character. The television film Murder in Greenwich, in which she portrayed 15-year-old Martha Moxley earned her the nomination for the Young Artist Award. In 2004, Grace was selected to portray Shannon Rutherford in the television series Lost on which she was a main actor for the first two seasons winning an award called the Screen Actors Guild Award shared with the cast of the ensemble. Grace was dropped from the series in the year 2005, to take on the role of a greater part in films, having appeared in the film Taken alongside Tom Welling as Kim Mills in the film Taken. She has appeared in Suburban Girl The Jane Austen Book Club both in 2007 and in Taken alongside Liam Neeson in 2008 as Kim Mills. The actress reprised her character in Taken 2 (2011) and Taken 3 (2013).She also played Alice in Malice in Wonderland, a modern version of the Lewis Carroll novel Alice's Adventures in Wonderland. Grace reprised her role as Shannon in Lost and the final episode. In 2013, she was in the seventh season Californication. The role she plays is Faith, a groupie who is a muse for the stars and catches the eye to Hank Moody (David Duchovny). A member of the Gyllenhaal clan, she is the daughter of film makers Stephen Gyllenhaal and Naomi Achs and is the younger sibling of actor Jake Gyllenhaal. In her teens, she began to work as a small part-time actress for her father. She was also in Donnie Darko alongside her brother. Then she appeared on the screen in Adaptation Confessions of a Dangerous Mind and Mona Lisa Smile (both 2002). Gyllenhaal was praised by critics in both of her roles as a lead character of Secretary (2002) which is the erotic drama about romance and Sherrybaby (2006). She received a nomination from her fellow actors for the Golden Globe Award. In 2006, she appeared in numerous commercially successful films, such as World Trade Center. However it was her performance in the role of Rachel Dawes that brought her more attention with The Dark Knight (2008). For her performance as a single mother, in Crazy Heart (2009) she got a nomination in the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress. The following years she appeared in comedy and dramatic films: Nanny McPhee & the Big Bang (2010) Hysteria 2011 and Won't Back Down 2012. The actress also was an Secret Service Agent in White House Down the action-packed thriller released in 2013, as well as a singer in Frank (2014) and her role as the main character in The Kindergarten Teacher, a film that debuted in the year 2018. Gyllenhaal started her career as a director, screenwriter and script writer. she directed and wrote The Lost Daughter, a psychological drama. The Lost Daughter. The film was awarded Best Screenplay at The Venice International Film Festival, and was later nominated by the Academy Award.
